Oops

Well fuck me, turns out people actually read this thing once in a blue moon.

Better update then.

That's right, I'm updating like a bitch. Get used to it.

Fuckin

Have you ever got a brand new shiny piece of fancy equipment that's so fancy it takes you ALL FUCKIN NIGHT to figure out how it works?

Creatures of mercy, shoot.

Yo fuckers!

Got some news for you... jury duty was moved! I have to call in on Wednesday evening, don't let me forget.

I really hope I don't end up being picked.

Mercy this and mercy that.

I have teeth and an ulcer on the underside of my tongue.

Sofia Coppola

I'm just back from a run to the bank, all sweaty and shit. They have had my name wrong on the account for years now. Also, I had to tell them that I want the guy on the front of the booklet they sent me about student royalty benefits.

I'm thinking of recording a radio show and putting it up on iTunes. Something with a nice bit of music and chatter. What do you think?

The rain

It might just be me, but I actually quite like the rain. There's something about how safe and secure you can feel when you're happily sheltered from the rain, safe and warm while it's pouring down cold around you.

A lot of people, when you say 'look at the rain,' will respond with

'I know, it's horrible today isn't it?'

But I don't really see it as horrible at all. I mean, I suppose getting wet is a hassle, but apart from that it's just another mode of weather, just like sun and snow.

So I say yay rain.

The revolution is coming

Training at work was good today, we did a lot of fucking around.

I'm up late again, I'm never going to learn.

Every day I look forward more and more to going to university. This morning I signed up to receive my exam results by text message.

I've sent away my Wii again (THIRD TIME!!!) but this time I believe they are going to send out a whole new unit.

Still obsessing over YouTube, that site is slowly but surely starting to consume me.

Yo mama

I had yo mama last night.

Streams

I discovered a beta feature on YouTube called streams, and although it's a good idea I didn't like it very much.

I pretty much said everything I had to say in the video, so sorry to those of you who don't have working flash on your computer.

I went to bed three hours ago and couldn't sleep so then I got up and went back on youtube and here I am.

Longest title I've ever written, I shit not.

Ever noticed how in Edinburgh there are only so many different types of kids?

YouTube streams is just freaking me out, I'm practically collapsing here.

Heating crisis

I woke up this morning and my room was boiling. No kidding, I was literally sweating. Now, living in Scotland, one of the smaller towns of England, that doesn't happen too regularly. Anyway, the radiator was on, so I could only come to one conclusion.

Global warming.

So I'm making one request of you: turn off your plugs at night! I doubt you need to keep your computer on standby all night and you're not going to miss any shows by putting your TV off all the way.

In other news, I trapped a spider last night. More info in the video (no actual spiders in sight, don't worry!).

Almost one whole week

Between blogs. Yippee. I'm cutting down on time wasted!

No, really though, I discovered the other day that someone was trying (unsuccessfully) to woo me by showing me pictures of someone totally unrelated. I wasn't too impressed anyway, but one would think that even if the intrepid plan did actually work, he would need to find some genius method of veiling the fact he was actually completely different looking when we met up in person. Creepy.

Anyway, I decided to try my hand at video logging.

Tell me what you think.

Vanity?

I had a dream last night where Stef was painting my nails with clear varnish.

Drums

I hate when songs are recorded with these amazing drum beats but then the drummer completely disregards this for all future live performances.

Case in point: Watching the Detectives by Elvis Costello.

Steve Goulding provides this stable, simple yet engrossing piece of reggae styled drumming that persists throughout but keeps your interest. But listen to any live recordings, watch any old tv clips on YouTube and all you'll get is a standard 4/4 rock beat with some annoying tomtom rubbish. Pete Thomas ruined that song for me.

Even worse is when the beat is ruined by the very same drummer who recorded it in the first place.

In this case I'm talking about Phil Selway of Radiohead. Radiohead have this great song called Reckoner, which was released on their latest album, In Rainbows. Reckoner has this consistent, yet slightly unpredictable new-alt beat which makes the song, especially the intro an unavoidable listen.

However, I went to a Radiohead gig recently. As brilliant as it was, the absence of this beat, replaced by a similar yet all too straightforward mashup was unmistakeable and jarring. Hoping this was just a fluke, I looked up live performances, even professionally recorded ones on YouTube. All the same.

Fair enough it's your song, do what you want with it, just realise when you're making a good thing less so.

High fidelity

I've been rather frivolous with money recently, but hey, the time is now, right? Annoying thing is it mostly seems to go on small stuff that doesn't seem to matter, like food etc. Anyway, my rather poorly articulated point is that I'm a student, still living at home for a couple months yet and so I'm at the right time to be spending like an idiot.

I just wish I didn't have to pay money back to my parents. I still owe my dad about £460 for my laptop and my mum about £330 for my bike insurance (but shh, don't tell dad because he'll freak out).

I've been having a bit of trouble with heartburn recently but at least it's not helicobacter pylori, apparently. That's always a good thing.

If there's one thing I'm most self conscious about, it's the colour of my skin. I'm so insanely pale that it's insane. The reason I'm particularly distraught about this recently is that last week I got very badly sunburnt and even now I've only JUST gone into the peeling stage.

My friends are great. However, I do wish a certain couple of them would show a higher level of fidelity sometimes.

Also, without sounding big headed, I think I generally do make the right choices in life. I've come to the conclusion that it really is always best to be honest no matter what, no matter how scary the prospect of telling the truth can be at times. I've always been as honest as I possibly can and I have to say, it's really paying off.

Oh, speaking of high fidelity, please PLEASE don't rip your music at a bit rate any lower than 320kbps. Any less and it's really not worth it. Please, treat your ears.

And please, please,
buy CDs.

Riff Raff

When you think about it, he's actually quite hot.

No, when you think about it, he's actually a minging, lanky, gaunt, aids-ridden, crystal loving bitch.

Changing days

So much of this blog has been about change lately, but rightly so.

So much has been changing, but in a good way I believe. I'm really getting on with life... in fact it's probably safe to say that right now I'm a lot happier than I have been in a good long while. Safe to say: life is good.

Complicated, but good.

The end of an era occurred with the closing down of Megabowl/Tenpin in Fort Kinnaird on Sunday. I've been going there all my life since childhood, even had my eighth birthday party there. Well, it's gone now. I did manage to get in for the last ever bowling though and that whole day/night was simply great. It's a sad passing and will be warmly missed.

New job is going good and I think it's going to be pretty fun. I do well with what I've got.

I'm staying close with everybody which is always good too, it's nice to feel safe and have a bit of a supportive network there when you need it.

Roll on study, man! Exams are in two months and these will determine my future for the next four years.

The end.

Easter tidings

Last night I dreamed that my room was a lot bigger and all of these little kids were holding an amateur dramatics show in it... right at the end one of them picked up my lovely new TV! Nasty arseholes.

Anyway, this holiday has been a great one. I've skived loads and that's only the start of it. I've reconnected so much with an old friend and spent quality time with an even older one.

These last two days in particular have been great, but it's hard to single out any one particular point over the last two weeks that has been the best, it's all been just what I'd needed after a fairly awful week just before.

College is back tomorrow and I guess that means that it'll be time to actually knuckle down and do some work before exams come sneaking up and eat my testicles.

I'll be back on this soon.

In the meantime, look at my new Bowl-a-Rama 2 pictures.

Peace, love, namasté.

Overhaul

So much has changed over the last while, it's silly.

I'm no longer with James, which was unexpected to say the least. Still, I think it's pretty much a good thing anyway, I can see with hindsight just how mismatched we really were.

I've been spending a lot of time with Gary recently, which is one of the best things that's happened of late. I feel like I really am regaining a best friend that I lost almost three years ago and it's great.

I'm only doing the two highers now, but at least I'm working hard at them. Well, not really, but hopefully I'm doing more than enough to get the grades I need to get into uni.

My 'things to do' have kinda fallen to the wayside recently but I'm watching movies like DVDs are being ritually destroyed so at least I'm gaining some culture.

There's just not enough money in the world, I want to be able to afford clothes and CDs and fancy stuff and just everything I want.

I'm so tired, night night.

Red 20: Stay up all night

So I'm not attempting one of the most absurd things to do ever, Red 20: Stay up all night.

It did occur to me that I've never ever done this, and now seems as good a time as ever.

Stef came and picked me up at nine this evening to do some fun fun happy haps.

Only problem was we had no idea what we were going to do. So we went into town and dawdled around, managing to waste around 4 hours.

Then I had the clever idea: let's try staying up all night. Regardless of the fact both of us had been out the previous night and were both exhausted. All the more challenge, I say.

Well it's now quarter to four in the morning and I have over five hours left to persevere through to reach my target: 9AM.

Then, providing all goes well, it will be time for Red 21: Sleep all day.

Yes

I think I actually have one of the best relationships ever.

Dream Diary: 1/1/08

Last night I dreamed I was rehearsing for a massive musical play, kinda inspired by jazz musicals like Chicago. And Hairspray.

There were great big numbers and I was an all singing, all dancing gentleman surrounded by girls.

Then it came time to rehearse my big solo song: Have You Met Miss Jones. I had to run up all these stairs. And when it came time to do it, people got in my way and I couldn't get to the top in time.

And when it came time for my director to tell me how I managed, he was fairly critical, and handed me a book. Thing is, all the things he said were already written in the book, which was some kind of performance textbook.

Then I woke up desperate on the toilet.
